BSA Chamorro District gets $5K from FHB foundation

[B]HONOLULU, Hawaii[/B]—The Boy Scouts of America, Chamorro District has been given a grant of $5,000 by The First Hawaiian Bank Foundation, the charitable arm of First Hawaiian Bank, according to an announcement by Don Horner, FHB president and chief executive officer. The grant will support the Boy Scouts of America, Chamorro District’s 2008 Friends of Scouting Campaign which provides funding for its scouting activities.

The Boy Scouts of America has been instilling positive values on Guam since 1920. The Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America which includes Guam and Saipan CNMI, is the largest geographic council, covering over 6 million square miles across the Pacific Ocean. It serves youth and their leaders throughout the Hawaiian Islands, American Samoa, The Marshall Islands, The Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. Scouting is an effective youth development program with everlasting impact for its participants.

First Hawaiian Bank Foundation is the charitable arm of First Hawaiian Bank. In 2007, the foundation and bank contributed $3.5 million to more than 350 non-profit organizations. The foundation funds educational opportunities, access to health care, services for children and youth, human service needs, and the many ways that the arts enrich our lives.
