The 2008 Rotary Club Summer Youth Basketball League is eyeing an Aug. 4 start, according to coordinator Elias Rangamar.

With this in mind, Rangamar is calling on all interested teams that would like to participate in the upcoming youth league to start preparing.

Rangamar said teams should be ready to present documents such as birth certificates or other proof of age as well as waiver forms to the organizing committee.

Entrance fee for the Rotary league is $150 for the 15-18 division, while teams hoping to see action in the 14-and-under age group need only to fork over $100.

Division I (15-18) will be played Monday to Friday beginning Aug. 4, while Division II (12-14) will only play during weekends, according to Rangamar.

The deadline for submission of team rosters, entry forms, birth certificates and other forms ID, and entry fee is only July 29. At 5pm on that day, Rangamar has also scheduled a final organizational meeting for all teams involved.

He added that uniforms—at least the top—are required for all teams wishing to take part in the 18-and-under competition.

The defending champion for the 2008 Rotary league is the Rufino Aguon-coached CNMI Junior Nationals, which beat the Southern Sonics in their winner-take-all finals late last year in a score of 98-91.
