The Saipan Softball Association will have an organizational meeting for the 2008 Islandwide Slow-pitch Softball League on Tuesday, July 15, 6m at the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The agenda for the meeting include league ground rules, entrance fee, and this year’s new format which will have the champion represent Saipan in the 2008 Marianas Cup set on Rota later this year.

All interested teams’ managers or representatives should attend the meeting on Tuesday.

Last September, home runs by Myron Sablan and Mel Sakisat helped Security Title Chura squeeze out an extra inning 13-12 victory against Exclusive in the 2007 Islandwide Slow-pitch Softball League.

Sablan actually had a solo shot in the top of the second while Sakisat, who pitched in no relief, blasted a fifth inning grand slam that brought the Security Title-sponsored Chura back into the game.

Sponsored by Pacific Trading Co., the Marianas Cup used to stage its own tournament but this year decided to spice up the Islandwide Slow-pitch League by adding the extra incentive for the team that tops the competition.

The Marianas Cup, now on its sixth year, is an annual tournament sponsored by Miller Lite and Pacific Trading Co. No Ka Oi won the Saipan leg of the tournament after beating Brotherhood, 18-9, in July 2008.
