Instead of this weekend, the Sufa Softball Association’s Softball Tournament Fundraiser has been moved to July 18, 19, and 20.

One of the coordinators, Joe Salas, said the tournament was postponed for a week because of a scheduling conflict with another organization that would be using one of the venues this weekend.

Sufa Softball’s competition will both use the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Field at the Oleai Sports Complex and the Capital Hill Field at the foot of Mt. Tapochao.

Salas said, so far, seven teams have signed up with two others waiting in the wings. The seven confirmed teams are Kagman Mobil, Joe and Audy, Potu, Brother Hood, Belau team, Chelus, and Wetz.

Aside from the one-week postponement, everything about the competition stands. The tournament begins on July 18 and will be played from 5pm to 11pm at the Tan Ge Field.

The July 19 schedule will be a lot earlier and will commence at 9am until 5pm at the Capital Hill Field. Championship day will be Sunday, July 20, and will be from 9am to 5pm at the Capital Hill Field.

In the event Mother Nature cancels a game, the Capital Hill Field will still be available for use from 6:30pm to 11:30pm.

Entrance fee for the three-day tourney is $150. The champion will take home $150, the runner-up $75, and third place $50.

Roque Celis will be serving as tournament director of the competition.
