Reading, learning and sharing is what’s happening at the Joeten Kiyu Public Library on Tuesdays and Fridays, coordinated by the Coastal Resources Management, Division of Environmental Quality and Division of Fish and Wildlife.

“We want to continue raising awareness and the library is the perfect learning venue during the summertime,” said reina camacho, DEQ spokesperson.

Camacho said they start their outreach with story telling. She and the coral reef summer interns read a book with an environmental or conservation message, and explain a little about our natural resources and actions that people take that can harm our environment. Then, students take a short quiz and receive a free goody or activity page.

“We’re pleased to see returning kids and hope that they enjoy the reading, learning and sharing time as much as we do,” said Camacho.

The environment days at the library are Tuesdays at 10am and Fridays at 3pm. For more information about the outreach activity, please contact Reina Camacho at 664-8500 or her email her at reinacamacho@deq.gov.mp. (CoCo)
