This summer, the American Memorial Park will be kicking off a jam session of ukulele players and aficionados—an event that is hoped will become an annual event.

Dubbed as the First Uke Jam in the Park, the event will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 5pm to 7pm on the Amphitheater grounds.

This will be a casual gathering of youth and adults who like to play or are willing to learn and who enjoy listening or singing along.

“There will be no concert per se but the folks will be able to relax and play or learn new techniques,” said Park Ranger Nancy Kelchner “If it happens that a group or individual want to play on the stage of the Amphitheater, then fabulous!”

Kelchner said Luis Wabol, himself an accomplished ukulele player, came up with the idea and is coordinating the project. There will be two park rangers and two volunteers for the event.
