The Seventh Day Adventist School held its 8th grade graduation June 4 at the Saipan SDA Clinic Center in Chalan Laulau, promoting eight students to high school this year.

Joy Bariso Lacorte was named the school’s Valedictorian this year. She is the daughter of Jho and Ernesto Lacorte. Ernesto is chief financial officer and Jho is the office manager, both at the SDA Clinic.

“I felt very blessed, accomplished and great that I achieved the goal of getting the Valedictorian award,” said Joy.

The Salutatorian award was conferred on Keisuke O. Yoshida, who was also the class’ sergeant-at-arms.

The other six students that graduated were class vice president Yuko Takayma, treasurer Shanie Torres Camacho, secretary Kono Luxly Remeliik, pastor Michitaka O. Yoshida, sergeant-at-arms Tekoi Nicholas and Louie Richard Nigh.

Incidentally, Joy Lacorte’s mother recently graduated cum laude during the Northern Marianas College’s 28th Commencement Exercise. Jho graduated with an associate degree in Nursing.

“I want to express my warmest congratulations to both Jho and Joy,” said Ernesto Lacorte.

Both parents are proud of their daughter’s achievements. “I want her to maintain and keep having those good grades,” said Ernesto.

Joy Lacorte will still be attending SDA next school year and wants to major in the medical field on the future.

“My parents told me that they were really proud and glad for me, because they really helped me get to this point,” Joy said.

In school, Lacorte is actively involved in sports such as volleyball and a drama group called Real Christian Theatre. She was also the class president.
