The 2008 Miller Lite 4-Person Beach Volleyball League concluded Thursday night with 15 of Fame beating Kiss My Pass in the finals at the Pacific Islands Club sand courts.

15 of Fame didn’t have much trouble taking out the regular season champions, as the team of Bruce Berline, Nicole LeBlanc, Nick Swaim, Michael Ray, Shequita Bennett, Travis Weaver, and captain Dan Westphal beat them black and blue, 15-5.

It was a heart-breaking loss for Kiss My Pass after the team won the pennant following a regular season that saw it compile a 13-1 win-loss record, its only setback exacted by pennant runner-up Fatingali last May 13.

Captain Ken Tanzawa, Apple Samson, Charles Johnson, Amanda Puleo, J.R. Gechig, Allan Webber, and Ed Cho make up Kiss My Pass.

Eight teams originally duked out in the one-night playoffs of the 2008 Miller Lite 4-Person Beach Volleyball League.

Kiss My Pass, which was seeded No. 1, was the first to advance after it handily defeated No. 8 Herbalizers, 15-5.

No. 4 Angan followed them to the second round about 20 minutes later when it ousted No. 5 Tsunami, 15-9.

That arranged a semifinal duel between Kiss My Pass and Angan with the former showing its championship form with a 15-9 win to advance to the championship round.

In the bottom half of the draw, No. 3 15 of Fame advanced to the second round when it whipped MHS Peers, showing no mercy in a 15-4 victory.

Second seed Fatingali, meanwhile, had to extricate itself from a tight game before overcoming MHS Okies, 16-14.

15 of Fame surprisingly had a tough time against a Fatingali team that was in all sorts of trouble in its previous game. 15 of Fame eventually nosed out Fatingali though in a score of 15-12.

In the battle for third, Fatingali salvaged second runner-up honors with a 15-12 triumph over Angan.

J.R. Gechi of Kiss My Pass was named Miller Lite 4-Person Beach Volleyball League MVP after leading his team to the pennant championship, while Felicia McFarland of Herbalizers received the Most Improved Player award.
