Former national player Fred Pelisamen put on an offensive show for Ol’Aces Wednesday night in the open division of the 2008 FMI Inter-Color Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Still hurting from their 103-105 loss to the Advance X-Terminators on May 7, Pelisamen and Ol’Aces went on a scoring rampage and vented its frustration on a hapless TASI Tours Giants side, 155-94.

The 155 points is a season-high not only for Ol’Aces but also for the whole league as well as the 61-point winning margin that eclipsed the previous high of 58 points in Ol’Aces’ 112-54 win over Star Water on April 11.

Pelisamen waxed hot early in the game and was credited with 20 of Ol’Aces’ 44-first quarter points, which is the most points scored in a single quarter this season.

Ol’Aces led by 28 at the half and was still unreachable after three quarters, 110-62, with Pelisamen leading the offensive onslaught. The speedy guard finished with a season-high 51 points.

Jericho Cruz also had a fare share of the offensive pie, ending up with 37 points, 13 of which came in Ol’Aces’ 44-first quarter salvo. Marvin Rabauliman tallied 28 markers, while Abong Camacho and Randy Pelisamen netted 10 each.

Leo Factor led the Giants with 18 points, while Ehroll Peredo and Sahnee Rañola added 17 apiece. Bernard Aquino and Pando Muleta combined for 24 markers but could not operate freely against Ol’Aces’ sticky defense.

Earlier, the shots came too late for Fixers as GEC Pawnshop eked out a 91-86 win in the masters division.

The Pawnbrokers led by double-digits most of the game and even enjoyed a 25-point halftime advantage but nearly blew their lead midway in the final canto.

The Fixers seemed headed for its first win when they went on a 12-1 run highlighted by Ferdie Dela Torre’s back-to-back layups to trim the lead to 72-81, time down to four minutes and 29 seconds.

After an exchange of missed shots, the Fixers had the chance to further trim the gap but Richard Brostrom’s inside pass to a waiting Bruce Berline was broken up by Sahnee Rañola, who nailed a 3-pointer at the other end.

That proved to be the pin that popped the Fixers’ bid of ending a five-game slump as the Pawnbrokers wisely used up the clock to secure their fourth win in six games.

Rañola, who played earlier for the Giants in the open division, proved that he had enough gas left in his tank, leading the Pawnbrokers with 32 points, while Moly Cacho added 20 more.

Amor Casabuena and Matt Buenabajo scattered 12 and 10 each also for the Pawnbrokers.

Berline paced the Fixers with 26 points and slightly improved at the free throw line with a 50-percent clip. Brostrom had 13, while Dela Torre scored 10.
