GES kindergarten registration ongoing

The registration for kindergarten at Garapan Elementary School is still ongoing and is taking place in the main office daily between 7:30am and 9am and 1pm and 2:20pm.

Kindergarten students must be five years of age on or before the end of Aug. 31, 2008.

New student registration will begin on June 9, 2008, in the main office.

First grade students, meanwhile, must be 6 years of age on or before the end of August 2008.

Please be sure to bring copies of all your documents. GES charges a 25 cent fee per copy requested.

Transitioning 6th grade students who will be going to Hopwood Jr. High School will be receiving transition packets.

These must be completed and submitted to their 6th grade teacher by May 23, 2008. After this date, parents will be required to register directly at Hopwood Jr. High School.

If your child will not be attending Hopwood Jr. High, a parent/guardian must come in to the office to complete a withdrawal/transfer out form before May 23, 2008.

If your child will be attending junior high off-island, a parent/guardian must come to the office to complete a withdrawal/transfer out form.

If the form is not completed, the school cannot release any academic information to the receiving school.

A request for an official transcript must be done a week before June 2, 2008. Counselors will not be available after June 2, 2008. All requests will be entertained when counselors resume a week before the SY2008-2009 opens.

Required documents include completed registration form, copy of birth certificate or passport, school entrance health certificate, copy of health insurance (government or private), Medicaid or student accident insurance accepted.

Other documents needed are map to residence (GES zoning areas: parts of Puerto Rico, upper/lower Navy Hill, Garapan, Chinatown, Northern Gualo Rai, and Northern Beach Road (From the Gualo Rai traffic light to Marianas Eye Institute north), legal guardianship documents (if applicable, must be notarized and recorded in court), official transcript, withdrawal form from previous school (for new student registration ONLY).
