Teenager nabbed for allegedly stealing items from cop’s house
Police arrested a teenager who allegedly stole and pawned some entertainment items belonging to a police officer and his family.
Jake A. Palacios, 19, was arrested for theft.
A $10,000 cash bail was initially imposed for his temporary liberty. He was set to appear yesterday afternoon in the Superior Court for a bail hearing.
Detective Vincent K. Basa stated in his report that last Saturday at 12noon, Sgt. Hillary Tagabuel called the police that he was at the Villaroyal Pawnshop in Dandan where he saw some items stolen from his house.
Basa said while at the shop, Tagabuel identified an XBOX360 game console with accessories, and three XBOX games (Halo 3, Gears of War, Ultimate Alliance) as the items stolen from his house in Kagman III earlier that day.
When the shop’s attendant turned on the game console, Tagabuel recognized the music playing as being the same music his son had downloaded.
The attendant then provided a copy of receipt attached with a photo identification card of Palacios as the person pawning the items.
Also indicated on the receipt is another name written indicating a second person who pawned the items. It was not clear whether the second person was also arrested.
According to the receipt, the two individuals received $160 for the items.
Tagabuel’s wife told police that on Saturday evening she spoke to Palacios about the missing items.
Palacios alleggedly apologized and promised to pay her back soon.
Investigation showed that Palacios and the second person are nephews of Tagabuel’s wife.
