The Tinian High School triumphed over three other high schools during a CNMI-wide Academic Challenge Bowl Competition last weekend.

The competition, which was an online competition, consisted of 25 timed questions about the subjects the cadets study in the JROTC curriculum.

According to JROTC director LTC Robert Gay, the curriculum encompasses a myriad of academic disciplines to include, health, first aid, fitness, leadership, military history, the Constitution, Bill of Rights, psychology, environment, land navigation, and communication skills, to name a few.

There were three levels of competition. These categories included first year cadets, second year cadets and 3rd and 4th year cadets. Tinian swept all three categories.

Academic Challenge Competitions within JROTC Cadet Command are taking a more prominent place in the JROTC curriculum. Cadets across the nation are excited about these competitions and there will be more events of this nature in the future.

Gay spoke to the CNMI cadets following the competition and told then how proud the entire community is for their dedication to excellence and their accomplishments.

Other schools that participated were Marianas High School, Kagman High School, Saipan Southern High School, and Rota High School.
