The Emergency Management Office has clarified that yesterday’s hazy weather condition was not related to vog emanating from the Anatahan volcano.

EMO said that after consulting with the U.S. Geological Survey, it was learned that a light to variable plume at Anatahan was seen via satellite heading northwest away from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

Also, based on the SO2 analyzer reading at the Emergency Management Office, it indicated 115ppb(parts per billions) as of 3pm yesterday.

All mariners were reminded, however, to take precautionary measures due to low visibility in open waters.

The public is encouraged to tune in to local radio broadcast or local news sources and log in at www.cnmiemo.gov.mp on the Internet for any other statements and advisories. (EMO)
