Hocog nabs SGA May Ace
Carl Hocog nabbed the Saipan Golfers Association May Ace of the Month honors after besting 21 other members in last Sunday’s SGA Ace of May tournament at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort.
Hocog, a police officer II at the Department of Public Safety, shot an 8-over par 66 to enjoy a two-shot lead over runner up Art Deleon Guerrero, who shot a final round 68.
He now joins Mariana Fajardo (January), Joe Sablan (February), Ned Norita (March), and Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (April) in the season-ending SGA Club championship in December this year.
Hocog shot a 39 and 41 in the front and back nines giving him an 80 gross and the 14-handicapper finished with a 66. He also had the longest drive in hole No. 4 and finished with four birdies in the entire tournament.
April Ace Larry I. Deleon Guerrero finished third with a 90 gross. He has a 19 handicap giving him a 71 net.
Steve Balakrishna, who had one birdie, had the longest drive in hole No. 14 and also had the greenies at holes No. 7 and 17. Art Deleon Guerrero and Das Krishnan had the greenies at holes No. 3 and 13.
Rick Kautz had the second most birdies with three while Demapan had two. Balakrishna, Manny Alvarez, Jess Castro, Tony Deleon Guerrero, and Ray San Nicolas had one birdie each.
