G-Rollers split games in 16-and-under caging

The Garapan Rollers basketball program split their Monday night assignments in the Northern Youth Basketball Association 16-and-under Basketball League at the Garapan Basketball Court.

While G-Rollers I rolled past Kontenders, 80-61, in the 16-and-under division, their 14-and-under squad suffered a 60-57 loss to the San Antonio Sixers.

Ham Hambros led G-Rollers I to their second straight win ending up with 15 points, four rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block shot.

G-Rollers I led from the start. zooming to a 39-22 lead at the half and were never threatened after that to coast to victory.

Jomar Danas and Zack Tudela provided scoring support for Hambors combining for 26 points, five rebounds, five steals, and a block shot.

Wens Namelo only scored four points but grabbed a season-high 13 boards to lead a 71-rebound effort by G-Rollers I. Rainier Deleon Guerrero, Tom Pangelinan, and Patrick Torres combined for 16 points and 30 rebounds.

Luizi Reyes was held to seven points but had a game-high seven assists and seven steals as G-Rollers also bested Kontenders in steals, 34-21, and assists, 27-9.

Trevor Ogumoro led the Kontenders with 21 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, and five steals, while Mailau Pome’e had 11 markers, seven rebounds, and two steals.

In the second game, the Sixers escaped with a 60-57 win over G-Rollers in the 14-and-under division.

Duenas piled up the points for the Sixers, finishing with a game-high 20 points, while Nikko Salem chipped in 16 markers as well as having nine steals and six rebounds.

G-Rollers out-hustled the Sixers in every department, 58-38 in rebounds; 21-6 in assists; 30-27 in steals; and 8-3 in blocks, but could not drain the needed points that could have earned them the win.

Lawrence Deleon Guerrero scored 14 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and had six steals for G-Rollers, while John Norita added 13 markers, hauled down a season-high 20 boards. Issued seven assists, had four steals, and blocked four shots. Ichitaro Faisao ended up with 10 points, seven assists, and 10 steals.

The Southern Sonics open up today’s game when they face G-Starz in the 14-and-under division at 5pm, while G-Rollers II clashes with G-Starz in the 7pm Under-16 game.
