Sign up is still open for the upcoming King and Queen of the Diamonds Slow-pitch Co-ed Softball Tournament, which will be held from May 16 to 18 at the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan and Capital Hill fields.

Tournament coordinator Joey Dela Cruz said the May tournament will be the first round of the annual competition, which is open to all Saipan residents 18 years old and above.

Dela Cruz is also limiting the number of participating teams to 10. Games will be played at the “Tan Ge” field in the first day of the tournament while the last two days will be held at Capital Hill.

The entrance fee is $150 and is due together with the team roster on May 15, Thursday, where a meeting with all the managers, coaches, or team representatives will also be held at 6pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.

Waiver forms can be picked up at the Division of Sports and Recreation office at the Ada gym and look for Dela Cruz.

The champion of the three-round tournament will automatically qualify for the October finals in Koror, Palau, where they would get an all-expense paid trip to represent Saipan in the Budweiser King and Queen of the Diamonds finals in November.

The second round will be held on July 19 and 20 and the third and final round will be on Sept. 20 and 21. The second and third place teams in each round will play in a single-elimination format in the consolation draw with the fourth and final spot in the championship round at stake.

Teams need to play in two out of the three rounds in order to qualify for the wild card playoff.

Two female players need to play on the field at the same time.

Interested teams can now get their waiver forms from Dela Cruz at the Ada Gym.
