Atalig leads NMC Open winners

J.J. Atalig won the Championship Flight in the 15th Annual NMC Foundation Open Golf Tournament held last Saturday on the west course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.

Atalig defeated Ryan Kim and junior golfer Dong Young Lee in the centerpiece division of the fundraiser, which aims to help the NMC Foundation implement its various programs.

The Top 3 finishers in the Championship Flight were among the 140 golfers that participated in the annual tournament.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming support from sponsors, golfers, and volunteers in making the 15th Annual NMC Foundation Open a very successful event. It was a great day of golf and we are happy to have had our governor and senate president also support the event by golfing,” NMC president Carmen Fernandez said.

In other results, Norman Tenorio Jr. led the winners in A Flight. Dong Kyu Lee and Jeong Jaeyeol joined Tenorio on the podium with the latter receiving $500 top prize. Dong Kyu Lee and Jaeyeol settled for $300 and $200, respectively.

In the B Flight, Sung Man Cho took the first place honors after beating Prescil Azarco and Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan’s Das Krishnan. In the C Flight, Kwang Joong Kim led the Top 3 finishers and was joined at the awards ceremony by Ray Santos and Scott Shular.

For the Seniors Flight, many-time CNMI national team member Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho proved he still has a game after prevailing against Frederico Flores and fellow veteran Tony Satur.

In the Ladies Flight, Jeon Me Ae was the top finisher in the Low Gross category, while Yuri Kim won the Low Net category against Noriko Togawa.
