As Lito water main break results in emergency temporary water outage

Share

A major water line break along Chalan Monsignor Martinez yesterday morning left Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in the surrounding areas without water service.

CUC water customers served by the San Vicente reservoir lost service Wednesday morning when the 4-inch water main burst in front of the former Movie Station in As Lito. The pipe carries the water pumped from the As Lito well system to the San Vicente reservoir.

The section of 4-inch PVC pipe along Chalan Monsignor Martinez was initially exposed by runoff water that eroded the side of As Lito’s main thoroughfare. The pipe became dislodged yesterday, prompting emergency repair efforts in the afternoon by CUC’s contractor, AIC.

While no timeline is available for the completion of repairs, acting executive director John Riegel believes full water service will be restored to the affected areas today, Oct. 22.
