Arts council seeks venue for Christmas exhibit

The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture is now preparing for its Christmas exhibit after the successful run of its Cultural Heritage & Arts Pacifica Exhibit last month.
At this time, the council is looking for a venue for the Island Artist and Christmas Craft Exhibit, which is organized in time for the holiday season, according to Parker Yobei, Arts in Education and festival coordinator.
“We encourage business establishments to sponsor this exhibit by providing a venue where our talented artists can display their skills and craftsmanship for the public to appreciate,” Yobei told Saipan Tribune.
Yobei noted that some of the artworks at the exhibit will also be for sale.
According to Yobei, there are many businesses on island that have rooms or spaces to spare where they can set up the exhibit.
Previous Christmas exhibits were held at the council’s gallery on Capital Hill, which does not really encourage many community members to view the displayed artworks.
“We are optimistic that the business community on island will step up to the plate and help support arts and culture by offering us a place where we can hold the exhibit,” said Yobei.
