An argument over text messages led to the arrest of a man who allegedly head-butted his wife on the forehead and, while armed with a knife, pinned her on a door in their house in Kagman II on Thursday morning.

Jesse Jarvin Kaipat, 27, was arrested that same day on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, assault, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set Friday at a $7,500 cash; preliminary hearing is on Oct. 13 at 9am.

The victim’s forehead was swollen, police said.

Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed as counsel for Kaipat. Assistant attorney general Betsy Weintraub appeared for the government.

Police detective Koji M. N. Taisakan stated in his report that a police officer responded on Wednesday morning to a call about a domestic violence at Kaipat’s residence in Kagman II.
