Aranda won the coveted MVP award after lifting San Antonio to an 87-72 victory in the winner-take-all title game against As Lito/Chow Queen in the 2011 MDX Amateur Radio Club Inter-Village Friendship League at the Civic Center Basketball Court in Susupe last Sunday.

Aranda had a team-high 18 points in the finale, scoring baskets when it counted the most, as he nailed 11 markers in San Antonio’s fourth-quarter breakaway. The San Antonio shooting guard was a consistent double-figure scorer in the regular season and totaled 30 points in the quarterfinals and semis. San Antonio topped San Roque/Morales in the opening round of the playoffs, 82-66, and downed the San Vicente Saints in the Final Four, 80-61.

A trophy was awarded to Aranda during a brief ceremony after the title game last weekend.

Also receiving awards were Mythical Team members Pedro Castro and Jaymark De Guzman, Ezra Caro of Chalan Kanoa/Fong’s Bakery, Travis Eubanks of San Vicente, and Sheen Metran of As Lito/Chow Queen and Best Coach Danny Bicera of San Antonio. MDX officials Peter Crisostomo and Bong Malasarte led the awarding of trophies to winners of the inter-village league.

Group A had the Top 4 finishers San Antonio/Gene’s Barbers, Chalan Kanoa/Fong’s Bakery, Garapan/JHEM’s Restaurant, and Susupe/Armatech. Joining them were Koblerville/GEC, Chalan Laulau/AON, Tanapag/FGC, San Jose CP Repair, and Puerto Rico/Triskellion. Top 4 placers San Vicente, As Lito/Chow Queen, Chalan Kiya/Loving Hands, and San Roque/Morales were in Group B. Completing the pool were Gualo Rai/Blue Haus, Dandan/Hawaiian Rock, Kagman/Destroyers, China Town/Slashers, and As Perdido/B-Boys.
