Applications due for NMC’s Summer Academy
The Northern Marianas College is reminding all high school juniors, seniors, and their parents that applications for the Summer Academy are due today, April 30, 2014.
The Summer Academy, funded by the College Access Challenge Grant program, affords high school students an opportunity to gain meaningful college experience while they are earning transferable college credits. The academy familiarizes students with college life while they are still in high school and can be an excellent way to help students prepare for their eventual transition to college after graduation.
In addition to college level work, participants of the Summer Academy will also receive college advising, academic tutoring, and college-preparatory and life skills training.
The program is fully funded by the CACG, which aims to increase the number of underserved and minority students who are enrolling in college. To do this, the CACG provides a scholarship award of $1,000 to eligible students to cover the cost of their courses.
The Summer Academy for students will run from June 30, 2014, through Aug. 8, 2014. Although classes for the Summer Academy will be held at NMC’s As Terlaje campus, some activities will be located off-campus and will be announced in advance. Eligibility for participation in the Summer Academy is based on family income and the ability to meet NMC admissions and financial aid requirements.
