Appliance rebate program re-opens for limited time

The CNMI Energy Division announced Friday the re-opening of the State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program to provide additional individuals residing on Saipan the opportunity to purchase qualified energy-efficient Energy Star rated appliances.

The re-opening is available for a limited time only so rebate vouchers will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis while rebate vouchers lasts.

Because rebate vouchers are limited, the CNMI Division of Energy, in partnership with participating retailers, will be hosting a one-day only sales promotional event on Saipan.

The program covers two types of qualified energy-efficient Energy Star rated appliances: Clothes washers and refrigerators.

The rebate amounts are as follows:

14 each, Clothes washers, $500

13 each, Refrigerators, $500

Staff from the CNMI Division of Energy Office will be available to assist individuals with applications. Applications must be completed and submitted along with required documents to the Energy, Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Office located next to the Coastal Resources Management office at Springs Plaza in Gualo Rai, Saipan.

To expedite the review and approval process, interested individuals are requested to provide the following documents:

Copy of a valid CNMI ID

Copies of most recent utilities billing (3 months). If your name does not appear on the utility bill, you will be required to provide a signed utility consent form from the account holder (Forms are available at the EECBG Office or may be downloaded from our website at www.cnmienergy.com.)

Make and model number (s) of existing appliance (s)

Other information deemed necessary.

A complete list of the required documents is provided in the application form.

For applicants leasing or renting a home/an apartment, you will be required to submit a Landlord/Tenant Certification form (Forms are available at the Energy Office or may be downloaded from our website at www.cnmienergy.com.)

Applications will become available at the EECBG office or may be downloaded from the official website at www.cnmienergy.com today, Feb. 7, 2012, and must be received by the Division of Energy no later than 4:30pm, the same day, Feb. 7, 2012. Applications will not be accepted after 4:30pm on Feb. 7, 2012, no exceptions.

Upon approval and issuance of rebate vouchers, recipients will be required to redeem the vouchers at any participating retailers below:

ACE Hardware Store – Gualo Rai

Pacific Home Appliance (Toshiba) – Garapan

Taro Sue Store – China Town Area

YCO Do It Best Store – Chalan Kiya

All rebate vouchers that remain unused or unredeemed after 4:30pm, Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, shall be considered null and void and will not be accepted for payment processing.
