Apatang: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
As Christmas Day approaches, Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang and his staff want to wish the community a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and to remember how fortunate we are in the midst of a tremendous change caused by COVID-19.
Apatang added that the change of directions that we had to make after Super Typhoon Yutu and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has “wreaked havoc in our quiet Commonwealth.”
“To say the least, no single household or business was not turned upside down. We are all struggling together and the climb out of the steep fall we are in now rests on staying unified,” said Apatang.
Apatang acknowledges the federal government for assisting us at a time of need with disaster relief funds, the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance/Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, as well as the CNMI’s active military servicemen and women, first responders, frontline workers, and others who have made and will continue to make the sacrifices along the way to keep us safe.
Christmas isn’t only for presents and material things, Apatang encourages the community to remember those who have gone before us and for all who have touched our hearts and lives, adding that he thanks the community for cooperating and adhering to the protocol in our fight against the pandemic.
“Let us continue to work together for a better possibility in the new year. Our warmest wishes for a joyous holiday season to families and friends living here and abroad. May God bless us all,” said Apatang.
Apatang was one of the many who received the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine last Dec. 19 and highly encourages the community to take advantage of the vaccine it will help us from COVID-19.
