Police arrested Tuesday a 33-year-old man who has allegedly been sexually abusing a minor since last year when she was just 15 years old.

James Patrick Aldan was taken to the Superior Court yesterday afternoon for a Gerstein hearing, a proceeding when the arrest of a suspect is done without an arrest warrant.

Assistant attorney general James McAllister called to the witness stand police detective Nicholas Deleon Guerrero, who narrated to the court the circumstances leading to Aldan’s arrest. Deleon Guerrero cited two incidents that occurred inside two houses in August 2011 and in March 2012.

Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho found probable cause to continue to detain Aldan on charges of indecent exposure, two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, and two counts of disturbing the peace.

Camacho did not find probable cause as to the charge of attempted sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree.
