Another NMC grad passes NCLEX on first attempt

A nursing graduate of the Northern Marianas College has become one of the latest students to pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses on their first attempt. Yunjiao Bai, who graduated from NMC last May, took the exam in November.
The NCLEX-RN tests an individual’s nursing knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to the safe and effective practice of nursing at the entry level. The exam is used by nursing boards in all U.S. states and territories to award nursing licenses.
“We are extremely proud of Yunjiao’s accomplishment,” said NMC Nursing Department chairperson Rosa M. Tudela. “I have no doubt that she will be an excellent nurse.”
“I chose nursing because of Norman Bethune,” said Bai. “My grandmother took me to the Medical University in China, where I learned about Norman Bethune and how he helped many Chinese people.”
“I told myself that I would work in a field that helps people of all backgrounds,” Bai added. “I passed because I studied hard every day.”
“I just wanted to thank everyone who believed in me–my mother, my great instructors at NMC, my classmates, and my coworkers at Marianas Medical Center. They are a great support system and they continue to remind me that I can do it,” Bai added.
Asked what advice she would give other students who are preparing to take the NCLEX, Bai said, “As a constant reminder for your exam and as a motivation, change your wallpaper on your cellphone to the date and your name with ‘RN’ beside it. Study hard. A little anxiety doesn’t hurt. Like Narae Kang, another NMC grad who passed the NCLEX on her first attempt, advised–have some chocolate before the exam!” (NMC)
