Another Guam donation arrives
A container filled with flatscreen televisions, 1,000 pillows, 200 blankets, and thousands of clothing and assorted items arrived on Saipan yesterday. The items were sent to aid the Commonwealth Health Center and families impacted by Super Typhoon Yutu.
“The struggle continues for many families so I have not stopped working to help our families get back on their feet. Some lost entire homes, others lost their only clothes for work or school, so hopefully these clothing items will allow individuals to instead spend their money on food, transportation and construction,” said Grace Sablan Vaiage, who is the overall coordinator for this relief container and who initiated contact with Guam Sen. Wil Castro.
“Our shared love for the Marianas extends in time of need as well as in time of prosperity. Together we can overcome even the most difficult of times,” said Castro.
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, in partnership with Castro and coordination by Vaiage, were able to network with nearly a dozen entities and individuals to make this shipment possible.
Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. CEO Esther Muña and facilities manager Warren Villagomez were present in Guam to inspect and receive the donation.
Guam Plaza Hotel, Oasis Empowerment Center, Victor Hamling and family, Hope Camper and family, American President Lines, and Guam Transport & Warehouse, with the assistance of the CNMI Department of Public Safety and over a dozen volunteers in Guam, contributed to relief effort. (PR)
