(Roselyn B. Five MPU Silver players canned two goals apiece in the dominating victory, while three others also made it to the scoreboard for the defending champion’s 2-0 record. MPU Silver opened the league with a rousing 15-0 win over Shirley’s Football Club.

Dakota Hall drilled back-to-back goals early in the first half and then a few minutes later, it was John Joyner’s turn to score two straight goals. Ryota Ito made it a 5-0 count with his first and lone goal, while Brian Lee and John Taisacan added one each to end the first half with MPU Silver way ahead, 7-0.

Paire 5, Matansa 4

Also moving up to a 2-0 record in the boys U15 division was Paire FC, which slipped past Matansa.

Paire, which clobbered Tan Holdings FC in Week 1, 12-0, got a winning goal from Hunter Jewell to recover from a 2-3 deficit and steal the win. The goal in the second half was Jewell’s lone conversation in the game.

Scott Kim nailed Paire’s twin goals in the first half, while Ryu Tanzawa also had two and Sean Perez added one to put Matansa in front at the break.

In the second half, Matansa only had one goal, courtesy of Perez, while Kim, Joel Fruit, and Jewell drained one each to give Paire a 2-0 start in the league. Matansa dropped to a 1-1 card, failing to make a follow-up on its 6-0 win over MPU Blue.

Tan Holdings 3, Shirley’s FC 2

Tan Holdings recovered from its season-opening loss after downing Shirley’s FC.

Ryan Christian Relucio delivered the winning goal for Tan Holdings, scoring in the 63rd minute, six minutes after Shirley’s Yoneil Manacop tied the game, 2-2.

Shirley’s other goal came from Edward Cordero in the 22nd minute to hold the lead for more than 10 minutes before Jeremie Tanghal scored the equalizer for Tan Holdings in the 34th minute.

The game remained tied early in the second half before Joshua Galarion lit up the scoreboard in the 48th minute to Tan Holdings in the driver’s seat.
