Anaks unit burglarized

A burglar or burglars managed to foil the posted security guards at the Anaks condominium complex in Puerto Rico by burglarizing one of the units last Monday.
According to a Department of Public Safety statement yesterday, among the items that were stolen were a silver-colored Tag Heuer men’s watch, two silver designer men’s watches, two gold Cartier wedding rings, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. dollars.
Police said that DPS received the 911 call about the burglary and theft incident at about 10:32pm Monday.
Police that responded to the scene met with the victim, who said that he immediately noticed that some items inside the unit were out of place when he returned home.
As he made his way through his home to see if any items were missing, he did not see any scattered items but could not locate some of his valuables in their usual places. That prompted him to call 911.
Initial police findings indicate that no suspicious vehicles or guests visited the complex during the on-duty guard shifts. However, a source told Saipan Tribune the guards may have been doing their usual rounds throughout Anaks at the time of the burglary and were unable to notice the suspect or suspects.
Last Nov. 16, a private home in Gualo Rai was burglarized and video surveillance caught two individuals carrying the stolen items.
In addition, a flurry of robberies happened previously, with Trench Tech owner Cuki Alvarez reporting that his home and the Trench Tech Gym were robbed last month and a separate case where a Kagman home was robbed and the home owner was threatened by the suspect with a knife. Both cases are still under investigation.
