AMP re-opens
The American Memorial Park will re-open for visitors today, Nov. 12.
The Visitor Center, theater, Micro Beach pavilion, tennis courts, and memorials will once again welcome the community and guests. Until further notice, Visitor Center hours will be 9am to 4pm.
Most walking paths are open for daytime use only and are not lit at night. The tennis courts are also open for daytime use, but restrooms may be closed for repairs and hazards remain in that area. Visitors should remain vigilant and stay away from areas that are marked with cones or caution tape to allow park staff and chainsaw crews to work safely as they clear debris and mitigate hazards.
The park will continue to serve as a staging site for islandwide relief efforts. The Visitor Center parking lot, while open to the public, may also be limited to accommodate relief efforts at any time. Parking is also limited along Micro Beach Road to ensure public safety and space for large response vehicles. The concrete pads across from the Hyatt Regency Saipan (where the Taste of the Marianas was located) is a staging area for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and not available for picnicking.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to cleanup the park over the next several months,” a park statement said. (PR)
