AMP joins National Find Your Park Movement

The American Memorial Park joins parks, programs and partners across the country to encourage everyone to find their park and share their stories online at FindYourPark.com. Launched last week by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, Find Your Park is a public awareness and education campaign celebrating the milestone centennial anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016 and setting the stage for its second century of service.

Find Your Park invites the public to see that a national park can be more than a place—it can be a feeling, a state of mind, or a sense of American pride. Beyond vast landscapes, the campaign highlights historical, urban, and cultural parks, as well as the National Park Service programs that protect, preserve and share nature, culture, and history in communities nationwide.

“Find Your Park” is also the theme for this year’s National Park Week, April 18-26.  Please join American Memorial Park staff and your local community at the memorials established to honor those who served and died in the Northern Marianas Campaign during World War II, or enjoy the 133 acres of beachfront, forests and recreation fields.  Rangers will be available for talks at the park’s memorials, historic and natural landscapes. Schedule at least two days in advance to confirm availability. We and our partner, Pacific Historic Parks, welcome you to our Visitor Center and bookstore and look forward to sharing our mission with you.

Special film screenings
The Visitor Center will host free screenings of the first three episodes of The National Parks: America’s Best Idea by Ken Burns. Each film is a journey through some of the most majestic sites of our nation and an exploration of the people who fought for preservation for generations to come. View these 2-hour-long episodes on April 17, 18, and 25, at 7 pm.

From the superintendent
“We are honored to serve the residents of the Northern Marianas and invite you to explore American Memorial Park and all sites within the National Park system. Join us on site or explore National Parks through our “go digital” initiative on line,” said Jim Richardson, Superintendent, American Memorial Park.
