During the shutdown of the federal government due to the lapse of appropriations, national parks will remain as accessible as possible while still following all applicable laws and procedures. Park roads, walking paths, memorials, and the tennis court at American Memorial Park, will remain accessible to visitors, but emergency and rescue services will be limited.

Thanks to a generous donation by its partner, Pacific Historic Parks, the visitor center and bookstore will remain open, with adjusted hours of operations that least impact visitor services. The visitor center will be open from 9:30am to 4pm, except on the following days—Dec. 31, 2018, and Jan. 1, 6, and 7, 2019—when it will be closed.

The adjusted dates and times are subject to change throughout the duration of the federal government shutdown.

Because of the shutdown trash removal throughout the park will be minimal.

The community is asked to take their trash with them when leaving park grounds to ensure a clean and healthy environment for all to enjoy.

Please also be advised during the federal government shutdown, National Park Service social media and websites are not being monitored or updated and may not reflect current conditions. For updates on the shutdown, visit www.doi.gov/shutdown. (NPS)
