Amata highlights World Diabetes Day
Nov. 14 was World Diabetes Day.
Along with millions of people around the world, including the thousands that have been affected in our own community, I would like to highlight World Diabetes Day 2022.
This day is about reaffirming our commitment to combat diabetes through new research and community education. As the member of Congress for American Samoa, I also remember today the many members of our community who have been afflicted by this disease. We know all too well the toll that this disease can take on our loved ones, our families, and our communities. We must all commit to doing our part to tackle diabetes head on, whether it be through educating ourselves, friends, and families or through raising awareness elsewhere. For me, I will never stop fighting for more healthcare resources for our community, including a new hospital that will better serve all of us. May God bless our territory, and may He provide healing to the many people fighting this terrible disease.
