The monthlong Cultural Heritage & Arts Pacifica Exhibit at the Lobby Function Room of Hyatt Regency Saipan in Garapan has so far sold $1,939 worth of artwork by local artists.

Arts coordinator Parker Y. Yobei said that popular items include jewelry, storyboards, paintings, and photos by 23 traditional and visual artists.

“This exhibit aims to provide a venue where people can view both the traditional and modern art of our talented local artists,” he said.

Of all the works of arts on display at the exhibit, Yobei disclosed that the shell jewelry made by artists Rodney Camacho and Martin Castro are the most saleable.

“We’re excited for the artists. It feels good having been able to sell some of their stuff. I know they’re happy when their works are bought,” Yobei told Saipan Tribune.

Yobei noted that the exhibit is drawing more support from tourists than residents.

“Still, we’re glad that support is coming in for our artists,” he said. “We’re always trying to find ways to help our brilliant artists with the help of sponsors like the Hyatt Regency hotel, which provided us a venue for our exhibit.”
