Salivating for all-time Filipino favorites? Look no farther than the newly opened Savory Cuisine at the Kada Dia everyday market in Chalan Kanoa.

Owner Jennifer Elayda said she opened Savory Cuisine in mid-September and chose Kada Dia because of its very strategic location in the middle of Saipan.

“That area is relatively bustling with people whether they are on a lunch break from work or school or passing by from the post office. Kada Dia is the most convenient location for this type of grab-and-go business,” she said.

Elayda said she chose the name Savory Cuisine to exactly reflect the kind of food they offer at the food stall. “It’s dedicated toward savory dishes that could satisfy customers during breakfast, lunch, and dinnertime. Our menu consists of all-time favorites for all ages like spaghetti for kids who crave pasta and siomai and finger foods for working adults who are always on the go.”

Aside from Filipino sweet spaghetti and siomai, food items that customers keep coming back for more at Savory Cuisine include their delicious chili cheese fries. “The chili is a homemade recipe that we’ve had for years and it is well seasoned to blend with the nacho cheese that we would drape over fresh French fries. It tastes best when it’s hot and it currently [costs] only $5.99.”

Another bestseller is Savory Cuisine’s beef tapa, which preparation includes marinating the tender beef overnight in order to soak it in a full satisfying flavor.

But what truly makes Savory Cuisine different from other food stalls on island is its wide variety of food items available. “We are a flexible establishment that includes all sorts of food assortments ranging from light snacks to full lunches and we also provide catering services for private occasions. Our menu is diverse, showcasing different styles of dishes that we see on island from the Filipino favorite halo-halo to Japanese-style tonkatsu. Some restaurants may have one or the other, but we have a wide variety.”

To celebrate its opening, Savory Cuisine has an ongoing promotion where customers only need to follow their Facebook page and look out for their updated posts every week. “You can share that update and if your share gets 10 likes or more, you can bring that down to the snack bar to redeem 50% off a dish of your choice. You can contact us anytime in case you have any questions regarding that promo,” said Elayda.

Savory Cuisine is also the perfect food stall as far as following the guidelines of the COVID-19 Task Force are concerned. “We actually modeled our snack bar around the necessary precautions of this pandemic. We figured that it was more practical and ideal that customers could just order our food and take it out instead of dining in and potentially harm others in these trying times. A lot of people come by for this sort of convenience and safety.

Elayda said like other business establishments, Savory Cuisine adheres to the 6 feet apart requirement outside of the stall and there’s a two-person limit for the employees working inside. “They (staff) also don their personal protective equipment such as hairnets, gloves, and facemasks when handling orders. The employees thoroughly wash their hands and cooking utensils after each use to remain sanitary.”

Savory Cuisine is located at the Kada Dia everyday market and is open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 7pm. For more information or for advance orders, call 783-6342 or contact them via Facebook.
