The Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation’s Women’s Junior National Program recently drew support from a business establishment that’s been known for helping local community activities.
All-Star Sporting Goods donated 12 basketballs to the program, which was launched early this year to put together a pool of U15 players where the NMIBF will select members of national teams competing in international and regional competitions. At this time, the program has girls and boys U15 players who are preparing to represent the NMI to the FIBA Under 15 Oceania Championships in Guam this November.
NMIBF president James Lee received the dozen balls from All-Star Sporting Goods store manager Sidney Quan last Tuesday and welcomed the donation to supplement NMIBF’s stock and help the federation in running the program.
“When we launched the junior national program, our goal was to recruit as many players as we can, especially female players, and provide them with enough equipment and amenities for their training sessions and other activities. We are thankful to the All-Star Sporting Goods for their donation, as this will assist us in our efforts to have continuity in our program,” Lee said.
Meanwhile, Quan said All-Star Sporting Goods is happy to help local organizations, particularly those that provide programs for the youth.
“Our local community is always our No. 1 priority. We are happy to help our local athletes. We will take every opportunity we have to make a difference in our community,” said Quan, whose company has also supported the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022. (PR)
