All set for tonight’s ‘Beatdown’

Barring any last-minute changes, tonight’s Rites of Passage 23: Beatdown is expected to be another explosive event with fans expecting 18 exciting fights at the Marianas Business Plaza.

Off-island fighters Andrei “The Venus Project” Zaitsev and South Korean fighters Seung Jun Lee, Sang Hyun Park, and Park Jeon Seung have already arrived and were present in yesterday’s weigh-in.

Zaitsev, aside from aiming to get his first win, is also attempting to bring the featherweight title back to Russia when he challenges Roman “Sonic Boom” Alvarez in the main event.

Koreans Seung Jun Lee, Sang Hyun Park, and Park Jeon Seung will each face Fradley Jepen, Vince “The Clinch” Masga, and Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez in three of the 14 mixed martial arts bouts offered in tonight’s event.

Two boxing matches will open ROP 23 with Guam independent fighters Jom Ebo and Jason Hernandez each meeting Team Zalaka’s Bradlee “Kaboom” Manalo and Jacob Ilo. Eric “Young Asap” Lacambra will face C.J. Hofschneider in a kickboxing match.

Maegan Smith and Jessme Jones will kick off the MMA matches, followed by young guns Corey San Nicolas and Junar Jesus’ bout. John Mendiola of Luta Top Team will duel Angel Oliveras, Manny “The Kid” Camacho will collide with Don “Don Won” Lujan, Austin John King of Team Tinian will test the skills of Andres “The Tanapag Beach Bad Boy” Camacho, and L.D. Ogo of Luta Team will take on Napu “Fong Fung” Reyes also of Team Tinian.

Greg “Peskadude” Sasamoto vs Wildon “The Beast” Camacho, Jboy Langu vs Kimo Adriano, and Austin “Auzzy Pete” Petrus vs Mark “The Dark” Nuique are the other featured fights. Jeff Mesa of Steel Athletics is a standby fighter with his opponent to be announced before the event.
