Alfreda Camacho of the CNMI selected to attend ELDP Cohort
Over 100 applicants from the flagged territories and the Freely Associated States from the insular governments of the Pacific region submitted their applications into the Graduate School USA’s Pacific Islands Training Initiative for a chance to represent their respective government through this highly recognized leadership training program. This one-year, intensive, specialized leadership training program further develops the participants’ knowledge and skills as executives and how to strengthen one’s career path to provide high quality services through strategic planning, thinking, and problem-solving within their governments.
Alfreda Camacho of the CNMI is one of the 23 selected participants that will make up the 4th Executive Leadership Development Program.
A graduate with honors from Grace Christian Academy, Camacho completed and attained her business degrees in the areas of Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources and Business Management from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. She is currently selected as part of the inaugural Pacific Century Fellows-Marianas Chapter Class of 2014.
“I believe that it is important for me to develop a career in public service because I want to make a difference for a better CNMI. My goal is to be able to have a direct and positive impact on the lives of others through transparent leadership for the common good of every person living in the CNMI. This program will allow me to focus my efforts on tackling important issues and implementing solutions that improve the quality of life for the community that I serve. My hope is to contribute to the bigger cause of helping shape the future of the CNMI that will positively benefit our generations to come,” said Camacho.
In his congratulatory letter to Camacho, Nikolao I. Pula, director for the Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs stated: “The Executive Leadership Development Program applicants undergo a rigorous and competitive selection process. You and your fellow participants represent the best and brightest among the insular government professionals, and we welcome you to this fourth year of ELDP. The government projects and other assignments you bring with you represent a ‘hands-on’ approach to learning, and we look forward to the results of your efforts.”
Camacho said: “ I fully commit myself to completing this worthwhile leadership training program as I believe at the end of the day, the rewards of what I will embrace through the ELDP will benefit not just myself but my home, the CNMI. I still have so much more to give back. I made a promise to come back after furthering my education—and I have.”
Camacho currently serves as the Acquisition, Program Oversight, Marketing Management coordinator for the Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority under the Office of the Governor.
The ELDP is funded by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs and managed by the Graduate School USA’s Pacific Islands Training Initiative.
