Alex Tudela came on top of a four-way tie for first place to win Saipan Golfers Association’s May Ace of the Month Tournament held last May 15 at Kingfisher Golf Links.

Tudela edged Mariano Fajardo, Rick Kautz, and Juan L. Babauta via scorecard tiebreak after all four golfers finished with net 70s. The May winner’s 70 was built around an 81 gross after the 11-handicapper shot a 42-39 in the front and back nine.

Fajardo finished runner-up after firing a gross of 97 following a 44-53 splits. Kautz completed the Top 3 after he matched Tudela’s net 81 after the 11-handicapper went 43-38 in the half and half. Babauta settled for first place after the Commonwealth Cancer Association executive director had a pre-handicap score of 84 (42-42).

With the win in the May tourney, Tudela now joins Edward C. Sablan (January), Frances M. Sablan (February), Nick C. Sablan (March), and Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (April) in the season-ending 2022 SGA Ace of the Year Tournament.

In the closest to the pin competition, Frances Sablan beat all comers in hole No. 6, Attorney General Edward Manibusan was without peer in hole No. 8, and Kautz and Babauta aced it in holes No. 12 and 15.

In the longest drive, veteran par-buster Nick Sablan brought the lumber in hole No. 1 and Manibusan also made the long shot in the final hole at No. 18.
