Alert out for poor visibility

Share

Based on information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, a doppler radar and IR satellite indicated a large area of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms building over Saipan and southward toward Tinian. These showers are moving toward the west-northwest at 25 mph. Heavy rain is expected to reduce visibilities and cause ponding in areas of poor drainage. If these showers persist, an urban and small stream flood advisory may be needed.

Drivers should be alert for ponding, slippery road surfaces and briefly lower visibilities. Seek shelter if you see lightning or hear thunder. Boaters can expect visibility down to half a mile in heavy showers. Go below deck and avoid touching any metal parts if thunderstorms are nearby. (PR)
