Candice C. Aldan, an 8th grader at the Northern Marianas International School, won first place in Original Oratory at the National Junior Forensic League 2014 Regional Competition held at Hopwood Junior High School last April 12, 2014.
Aldan will be part of the CNMI Team that will compete in the nationals, to be held in Overland Park, Kansas, on June 17-20, 2014.
“I couldn’t be more proud to represent my school,” she said. “I have incredible support from my parents, Criselda and Candido Aldan; my coach, Ms. Kathy Barja; and the NMIS administration, staff and faculty.”
This was the first time that NMIS joined the competition and they are so proud that they had someone to represent their school in the nationals.
Other NMIS students who did well at this year’s regional competition were Deirdre Rosete, third place in Dramatic Interpretation; Myka Villegas and Kristine Fajardo (duo semifinalist); Curtis Mostales and Ylac Caracut (storytelling semifinalist); Xiao Qian (impromptu semifinalist); and Maverick Irang and Dondi Ferrer, for qualifying in the regionals.
