Alamo, behind Rey Hermogenes and Manny Mariano’s impressive performances, cruised to an 11-2 triumph over the undermanned Wild Wild West side to grab the early lead in the 20-week long league that ends on April 7, 2016.
Hermogenes went undefeated in the five matches in the singles and partner’s 8-ball events that he played. Mariano duplicated the feat four times.
Hermogenes opened up the one-sided contest by beating Victor Formales in singles play then his team up Mariano resulted to a walkover win after Wild Bill’s could only come up with only three players.
Wild Bill’s had to default another singles event then two more matches in partner’s 8-ball. Their two wins were courtesy of Formales and Nong Detdon.
In other games, the Jokers Homeboyz rallied from 0-3 down in completing a 9-4 decision against Jokers WildBoyz, while the Wild Bill’s Rack ‘N’ Roll escaped with a 7-6 win over Jonny’s Team SCS.
Action in SBA’s two weekly leagues continues tomorrow with the Jokers StraightBlackBall going up against sister team and early leader Destroyers, while the Jonny’s Crazy 8 will visit the Jokers Docomo Hustlers and Jonny’s Titans will host the Jokers IT&E Voyagers.
On Thursday, it will be an all-Wild Bill’s match between the Wild Wild West and the Rack ‘N’ Roll and National Alamo facing the Homeboyz. Team SCS and the Homeboyz will duke it off in the other contest to be held at Jonny’s Bar & Grill in Garapan.
League organizers are also informing all teams in the Thursday League that there will be no games on Thanksgiving (Nov. 26), Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve to give players the chance to celebrate the holidays.
There will be games on Nov. 19, the Thursday before Thanksgiving, while the last contest before going on a two-week break is on Dec. 17. Action resumes on Jan. 7, 2016.
