Atkins Kroll Saipan feted the winners of its 12th Annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest last Saturday at its showroom in Oleai.

The Top 3 winners of the three divisions—12-15, 8-11, and under 8—were awarded gift certificates and entry to the international Toyota Dream Car Art Contest in Japan this August.

The winners in the 12-15 age group were Yu Jeong and Dmitri Weilbacher, first place; Elaine Joy Fernandez, second; and Anna Pan, third place.

Yu’s entry, named “Dandelion Seed Car,” is a car in a shape of a dandelion seed so that in case of earthquakes or floods, the car can rescue people and turn polluted air into clean air. She said her dream car also makes natural energy at night.

In the 8-11 division, Jeewoo Son took the plum with her “Toyota Capsule Car.” She said she made her dream car in the shape of the Toyota logo and it has many features—a camera, an oxygen tank, a clean water system, an “anger sensor,” and a charger powered by solar energy.

The rest of the age group’s winners were second placer Diego Luis Cartalava Metran and third placer Arianee Jade San Nicolas.

Only the second and third place winners were awarded in the under-8 category, with Joyce Zhou Hou and Tina Chi taking second and third places, respectively.

Atkins Kroll Guam Marketing Department’s Athena Cruz Ramos said the 12th Annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest is the largest children’s art contest in the world.

“It allows the children to be able to share their ideas about the cars of the future and their creativity on what their dream car is going to be, whether it’s from shooting out ice cream, to feeding the homeless, to cleaning the ocean, sky is the limit on what they want,” she said.

Ramos said the competition drew 160 entries on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. Together with the winners of the 500 entries in Guam, the eight age group divisions in the CNMI get to compete at the bigger worldwide art competition in Japan.

“Original arts pieces will be sent to Japan where judges will be able to select a winner who will be sent to Japan to receive their prize,” she said.

Winners from CNMI were given gift certificates from Seatouch LLC, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, and Let’s Go Tour Company.
