A Star Marianas Air flight from Tinian to Saipan was forced to return to Tinian last Sunday, July 5, 2020, after experiencing problems with its landing gear.

According to a Commonwealth Ports Authority statement on the incident, the Star Marianas plane called the Saipan Air Traffic Control Tower last Sunday to inform the ATCT that the aircraft was having landing gear issues.

The flight did not land on Saipan but rather returned to land on Tinian instead, according to CPA personnel that overheard the radio transmission. The aircraft successfully landed in Tinian and remains there for maintenance. No alert was declared. (PR)
