Team Aimeliik and Man Amigos battered Peleliu and Ngaraard Redmen, respectively, in final makeup games of the men’s division league in the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.
Aimeliik went up first against Peleliu and edged them out, 14-3, while Man Amigos thumped the Redmen, 14-4.
Chuezon Martin led Aimeliik with a grand slam home run in the fourth inning for a seven run inning and completed the game with four RBIs.
At this point, Aimeliik already had a 12-3 lead after Peleliu’s Cartfield Sablan scored the team’s third run in the fourth inning. However, that was the extent of Peleliu’s run as Aimeliik pitcher Ken Kaipat shut down Peleliu’s offense in the last two innings to secure the victory, 14-3.
Man Amigos scored the same number of runs as Aimeliik with 14, but Redmen scored just four runs.
Amigos pitcher Derron Flores shut down the Redmen’s offense in five scoreless innings and went red in their faces after being unable to hit against the NMI Baseball National Team head coach.
The only time the Redmen pierced through the veil of unhittable pitches was in the fifth inning after Mike Tomokane, Jaime Reyes, Greg Magofna, and John Taitano scored their team’s only four runs.
On the same day, a men’s and women’s division home run derby was held; results of the home run derby will be posted in the next editions of Saipan Tribune.
The playoffs are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 4, starting with a women’s division game between Queens of Diamond vs. Kosebakl at 9am; Sufa vs. Momma Charo at 10am; Tokahao vs Peleliu at 11am; Man Amigos vs. Asahi at 12pm; Hagu Lamun vs. Ngaraard Redmen at 1pm; and another women’s game featuring Hot Shots vs. Lady Eagles at 2pm.
