Rep. Antonio R. Agulto (Ind-Saipan) prefiled ouse Resolution 18-55 yesterday to congratulate and recognize the Northern Marianas College Board of Regents, NMC president Dr. Sharon Hart, staff, faculty, and students for the successful reaffirmation of the school’s accreditation.

The Accrediting Commission on Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges reaffirmed NMC’s accreditation on Feb. 7, 2014, exactly a year after the commission placed the college on show-cause in February 2013.

“Despite other difficult challenges the NMC was facing, the staff, faculty, students, administrators, and members of the Board of Regents pulled together and worked tirelessly to fully address accreditation standards, eligibility requirements and recommendations,” Agulto’s resolution states.

“Reaffirmation of the college’s accreditation means that NMC can continue to play a central role in helping residents of the Commonwealth advance toward their educational and professional goals and can expand its role in serving as the engine to drive the economic growth of the Commonwealth,” Agulto’s resolution adds. (Jayson Camacho)
