Agrihan, Pagan, Alamagan under Typhoon Condition I
Tropical Storm 26W now has a name: Fengshen.
Based on information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, as of 5:30pm yesterday, Tropical Storm Fengshen continues moving west at 18 mph, and with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.
A typhoon warning remains in effect for Agrihan, Pagan, and Alamagan. Damaging winds, including winds of 39 mph or more, were expected late last night, with typhoon conditions, including winds of 74 mph or more, expected early this morning.
As of 4pm yesterday, Tropical Storm Fengshen was spotted about 200 miles southeast of Agrihan, about 170 miles east-southeast of Pagan, about 155 miles east-southeast of Alamagan, about 215 miles northeast of Saipan, and about 340 miles northeast of Guam
Fengshen is expected to turn to a west-northwest track through last night that will take it near Pagan early this morning. Fengshen will then turn slowly northwest today as it moves away from the Marianas.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 60 mph. Slow intensification is forecast the next couple of days, and Fengshen is expected to become a typhoon shortly after it passes through the CNMI.
Because of the anticipated threat of Tropical Storm Fengshen, Typhoon Condition I has been declared over Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan. This means that damaging winds of 75 mph or more are expected within 12 hours.
The Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point will be monitoring the movement of Tropical Storm Fengshen and will be issuing out bulletins as they become available.
