Agricultural grant proposals sought
The Administrative Council of the Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education, or SARE, Program has announced a call for proposals for Farmer/Rancher Research and Education Grants and Professional + Producer Research & Education Grants for 2015.
The goal of these grants is to achieve results that can be communicated to producers and professionals and can improve income, the environment, communities, and quality of the life for all citizens.
The involvement of farmers, ranchers, and producers is essential for these grants. The U.S. Congress mandates that the SARE grant program depart from “business as usual.” To that end, the Administrative Council requires that agricultural producers (farmers/ranchers) be involved from start to finish in the planning, design, implementation, and educational outreach of any SARE-funded research and education project. Token representation is unacceptable.
The Northern Mariana Islands coordinator of the Western SARE program will be hosting an information session about these Western SARE competitive grants for those who are interested. The session will be held at the Northern Marianas College at 10am on Oct. 24, 2014, in Room G1.
