Agricultural Fair tomorrow
The Saipan Agricultural Fair Association and the Department of Lands and Natural Resources are set for tomorrow’s 36th Agricultural Fair at the Garapan Central Park Roundhouse, from 7am to 2pm.
DLNR staff and SAFA have been working this past week to get the event grounds ready and DLNR Secretary Anthony Benavente said he is happy with the progress that they are making. He said that the competitors will also be bringing in their animals and crops today.
No matter the weather, the fair will be ready for tomorrow, said SAFA officer Jack Ogomuro.
He said the group chose the Roundhouse as it is a covered area and will keep the crops and the spectators dry if it rains.
The fair will showcase a livestock competition, ornamental flowers and specialty crop competition, and a plant competition.
The fair committee will be accepting entries until today. Benavente said that the competitors will be judged through a points system, meaning the participant with the highest amount of points wins the competition.
Registration forms can be picked up at the Division of Agriculture, the DLNR Parks & Recreations office, and the Garapan Public Farmers’ Market.
