Agricultural fair seeks donations

The Saipan Agricultural Fair Association is seeking the support of the business community for the 2012 Agricultural Fair in May.
Treasurer Marianne Teregeyo said yesterday that they will be soliciting in-kind donations, particularly from companies that deal with farming equipment and supplies such as fertilizers and seeds.
Teregeyo said the donations will be used as prizes for the students who will take part in the various contest categories for the event slated for May 26 at the Civic Center grounds in Susupe.
The Agricultural Fair is an annual event that showcases locally grown agricultural produce and livestock to promote and support local farmers and ranchers.
Teregeyo disclosed that they have prepared solicitation letters that will be distributed to various companies within the week.
She said they are also encouraging these businesses to set up booths at the event “because that’s the best day for them to reach out to their market.” Vendors are also invited to sell their products and merchandise at the fair.
The 2012 Agricultural Fair is a collaborative effort with the Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Agriculture and the Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research Extension and Education Services.
